The Qulliit Nunavut Status of Women Council will be hosting the 2010 International Women’s Day Celebrations
Happening in Iqaluit on Sunday, March 7 at Inuksuk High school from noon until 5pm. It will be a full day dedicated to celebrating women’s talents!
Following is a schedule of the event:
WOMEN’S ARTS AND CRAFT SALE – Inuksuk High School cafeteria 12:00pm-3:00pm Sunday, March 7
Tables are free for women, but space is limited so call soon to reserve yours!
WOMEN SHOWCASE YOUR TALENT! - Inuksuk high School Tisi area 3:00pm-5:00pm
Following the craft sale at 3pm, we will host a coffeehouse showcasing women’s many talents in music and the arts. An East Coast musician by the name of Ria Mae will be flying in to perform special for this event, and we are hoping to fill the stage with Iqaluit’s local talents! If you or someone you know would like to perform for this event, please contact Shylah Elliott at selliott@qnsw.ca or by calling 979-6690. Again, space is limited and is filling up fast!
NUNAVUT WISE WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
Qulliit is now accepting nominations (forms are available electronically, faxed or in hard copy) for the 2010 Nunavut Wise Woman of the Year. The closing date is February 24, so if you would like to nominate a woman in Nunavut who is making a difference in the lives of others, please submit an application on her behalf! If the recipient is from outside Iqaluit, Qulliit will fly the winner to Iqaluit to accept the award during the IWD celebrations.
There will be some great door prizes including a flight from First Air, so we hope to see you all at the event! Any proceeds from the door will be donated to the Children’s Group Home.
